Pauline Frommer, of Frommer’s Guidebooks, wants people to travel in a way that will change their lives.

During the Feb. 3 and Feb. 4 Travel & Adventure Show, she’ll discuss life-enhancing vacations that won’t break the bank.

“I talk about the mindsets that should underlay travel and nitty gritty information to help people travel more conveniently and less expensive,” she said.

“I don’t mean only backpacker style. If you want luxury, there are ways to get that without paying too much. I try to teach the methods of not overpaying.”

In its 19th year in the LA area, the Travel & Adventure Show offers opportunities to discover and book trips in the new year, thanks to the nearly 500 destinations, hotels, cruises and tour operators ready to share special deals and promotional prices to help attendees plan for smart and easy travel.

Attendees at the LA Show can hear an informative lineup of speakers at this year’s show, including a moderated Q&A with Phil Rosenthal, the host of Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil,” to discuss how travel became his passion and his career.

Other speakers will include travel writer and TV personality Rick Steves, discussing European travel in 2024; travel expert Theresa Goodrich, talking about how to plan the perfect road trip; and Emmy-award winning producer and CBS travel expert Peter Greenberg, teaching attendees about the latest travel pitfalls and how to avoid them.

Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show attendees can also look forward to a variety of interactive and engaging programming offerings, including:

• Activities, such as rock wall climbing experience courtesy of Visit Yosemite Madera County.

• Numerous giveaways and sweepstakes, with show-only deals exclusive to the show’s attendees.

• Live entertainment on the global beats stage and take-home mementos courtesy of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma’s green screen photo booth.

• Face-to-face travel planning with local experts from Visit Brazil, AAA Travel, Japan Tourism Bureau, The China National Tourist Office, Viking Cruises, Mexico Tourism and Sun Siyam Resorts.

“With Los Angeles being a major gateway city for domestic and international travel, Angelenos can take advantage of the incredible lineup of tourism offerings we have in store for 2024 to help them save money, while marking off another stop on their bucket list,” said John Golicz, CEO of Unicomm LLC, the producer of the Travel & Adventure Show Series.

Event sponsors include Official Travel Agent Booking Partner, AAA, supporting sponsors Taiwan Tourism and Rick Steves’ Europe, contributing sponsors Go Touch Down Travel & Tours and Tourism Fiji, as well as official photo booth sponsor Choctaw Country and rock wall sponsor Visit Yosemite Madera County.

Overall, the event will feature more than 60 in-depth seminars ranging from destination-specific advice and new travel trends to expert tips and advice designed to help travelers travel safer, smarter, cheaper and more efficiently.

“Inflation is hitting travelers,” Frommer said. “Hotel costs are skyrocketing. Airfare seems to be plateauing or seeming to go down. It’s more important than ever to save money when you travel.

“We came out with an in-depth study about which search engines consistently find the lowest prices for airfares. Surprisingly enough, our top three were not brand names. The first one was Momondo. It finds the lowest fares most consistently and the largest number of filters.”
